Mark Timmerman, a native of Davenport, Iowa, is a member
of the New Jersey Symphony and the Glimmerglass Opera
Orchestra, and recently spent a season as Principal Bassoon
of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He is a graduate of
The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and also studied
at Temple University and the University of Michigan. During the
2007-2008 season, Mark was on sabbatical from the NJSO to
perform once again as a member of the MET Opera
Orchestra. An accomplished orchestral player, he has
performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago
Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony,
Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic and
Hawaii Symphony. Music festival appearances have taken
Mark to Japan, the former Soviet Union, Italy and Brazil. He
also participated for three summers in the Marlboro Music
Festival in Vermont, went on several Music from Marlboro U.S.
tours, and has been heard on the St. Paul Sunday Morning
radio program.
