Violist Megan Newman Dyer is currently a member of the
Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra, the Catskill Symphony and the
Catskill Chamber Players and is a substitute musician with the
Albany Symphony, Binghamton Philharmonic and the Utica
Symphony. She has also been a soloist with the Queens
Philharmonic under conductor Joanne Faletta, and has held the
position of Principal Viola in the Tri-Cities Opera Orchestra.
Presently, she is on the music staff at Oneonta Middle/High School,
teaches numerous private viola and violin students, and is an active
conductor and pianist for music festivals throughout the central New
York region. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from
Oberlin College, a Master of Music from the Juilliard School, and
holds a Music Education degree from Hartwick College. Her major
viola teachers were Paul Doktor, William Lincer and Lillian Fuchs.
Megan has been married to her husband, Jonathan, for nineteen
years, and they have two daughters, Alison and Tricia.
