









Cellist Ben Whittenburg was educated at Colgate
University and Boston University, where he studied with
George Neikrug. He was active in New England, playing
with the New Hampshire, Nashua, and Vermont
Symphonies. Ben moved to New York City in 1980 and
played many chamber music concerts, giving world
premieres with the Algonquin String Quartet and the New
York New Music Ensemble. He also did extensive touring
with Opera Northeast and NewYork City Opera National
Company. In 1985, Ben traveled to Naples, Italy to play with
the Opera Orchestra in the Teatro di San Carlo. Mr.
Whittenburg settled in Roxbury, NY in 2002 but still travels to
New York City to play with The Orchestra of St. Lukes and
the Orchestra of St. Ignatius Loyola under Kent Trittle, as
well as in the Broadway shows "Hairspray" and "Wicked".
Ben has played in the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra since
1999, and was recently asked to join the Festival Musical
De Santo Domingo under Philippe Entremont. He currently
teaches cello at Hartwick College and performs with the
Albany Symphony Orchestra, Albany Pro Musica and the
Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic.
